Breadfruit Chips
Mature green breadfruit chips fried until golden and seasoned with salt.
About Breadfruit Chips
Breadfruit chips are thin pieces of mature green breadfruit fried to a golden finish. This Guam version is credited to extension home economist Lorraine M. Aguon in the Pacific Islands Cookbook.
Breadfruit gives the chips a mild, starchy flavour. Salt supplies the seasoning, while the frying oil carries the richness of the finished snack.
The sliced fruit forms small golden chips with crisp edges and a firm bite. Their simple presentation keeps the breadfruit itself at the centre of the plate.
