PRIVACY AT PLATESAFE
Platesafe is designed to help you research food without requiring a profile. This statement explains what the current website handles, what stays on your device and where other providers are involved.

AT A GLANCE
The current website has a deliberately small data footprint. Some technical information is still necessary to deliver any website securely.
The hosting service processes technical request data such as an IP address, browser information, requested page and time.
Countries, foods and search filters may appear in the page address so a result can be loaded, bookmarked or shared.
If you save a destination, its catalogue identifier is stored locally in that browser until you remove it or clear site data.
Contact outlines and food contribution drafts stay in your browser unless you choose to copy or download them.
01
This statement applies to the current Platesafe website and its food, dish, ingredient, cuisine, destination, guide, allergy-card, help and contribution pages. “Platesafe”, “we” and “us” mean F LIE & L.A O'NEILL, the Australian partnership trading under the registered business name Platesafe co (ABN 72 763 342 011).
It does not describe a future mobile app, account, purchase or subscription service unless that service links to this statement and the statement has been updated to cover it.
02
When you request a page or use a site API, the hosting and security infrastructure may process your IP address, date and time, browser or device information, requested address, referring page, response status and traffic or security signals. This is standard network information needed to deliver and protect the site.
Search terms, country choices, foods to avoid, dish names, filters and pagination may be included in a page address or request sent to Platesafe. The current website does not connect those choices to a Platesafe account because it does not offer public user accounts.
The Contact page can copy an enquiry outline. The contribution page can create a structured dish or ingredient proposal. Those tools run in your browser and do not transmit their text to Platesafe.
PlateSafe previously offered a screenshot feedback tool. Reports submitted through that tool may contain a screenshot, note, page address and title, marked coordinates, viewport size, browser user-agent string and submission time. The tool is no longer available on the current website.
The current website does not ask for a name, email address, payment details, government identifier, precise location, diagnosis or medical records. Please do not place another person’s personal or medical information into contribution drafts or messages.
03
Platesafe uses URL parameters to keep some searches, filters and guide choices with the page. This makes results bookmarkable and shareable, but it also means the address may remain in browser history, synchronised history, server logs or a link you send to someone. Remove sensitive selections before sharing a URL if that matters to you.
When you deliberately save a destination, Platesafe uses browser local storage to remember the destination’s catalogue identifier on that device. Platesafe does not receive that saved list merely because it is stored. You can remove destinations in the interface or clear Platesafe’s site data through your browser.
Platesafe does not currently set advertising cookies or use behavioural analytics tools. The website does not currently use cookies to build a profile of your browsing. Infrastructure providers may use their own strictly necessary technologies when delivering their services; their handling is governed by their own policies.
Copy buttons use the browser clipboard only after you activate them. Download buttons create a file in your browser. Platesafe does not read unrelated clipboard content or upload the downloaded file.
04
Platesafe and its service providers may use the limited information described above to:
Platesafe does not currently use website activity to make decisions that significantly affect a person’s rights or access to a service. It does not sell personal information or use food selections for targeted advertising.
05
Platesafe relies on specialist providers to deliver the website and food catalogue. They process information under their own terms and privacy commitments:
These providers operate internationally and may process information in countries including the United States and countries in the European Economic Area, as described in their policies. Provider locations and subprocessors can change.
Platesafe may also disclose limited information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful process, protect the website or users, or investigate misuse. We do not permit a provider to publish a food selection as a Platesafe user profile.
06
Saved destination identifiers remain in your browser until you remove them or clear site data. URLs may remain in your browser history according to your browser settings. Contribution drafts remain only in the active page, clipboard or downloaded file unless you choose to send or store them elsewhere.
Previously submitted website feedback and screenshots remain in Platesafe’s private feedback queue while an issue is investigated and for a reasonable period needed to verify the fix, prevent duplicate work and maintain an audit trail. Reports that are no longer needed should be deleted or anonymised.
Hosting and security logs may be retained by service providers for operational, diagnostic, security and legal periods. Platesafe aims to keep any information it controls only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose collected or required by law.
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not send Platesafe medical records, identity documents or another person’s private information.
07
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask whether Platesafe holds personal information about you and to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection. Because the current website has no user accounts and does not accept general contact forms, Platesafe may hold little that can be connected back to you. An earlier feedback report may still contain a page address, screenshot, browser details and anything you deliberately typed.
You can control current website data by removing saved destinations, clearing site data, deleting browser history, avoiding sensitive URL selections and choosing not to copy or download a contribution draft.
For access, correction or a privacy complaint, use the contact route below. Platesafe may need enough information to verify that a request concerns you. If you remain dissatisfied, you may also have the right to approach the privacy regulator where you live. Australian readers can find guidance from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner .
08
Email support@platesafe.co and identify the message as a privacy request. Include the page or feature involved and enough detail to understand the request, but do not send medical records or identity documents unless Platesafe specifically asks for a necessary verification step.
