Skim Milk
Cow milk with the fat removed.

About Skim Milk
Skim milk is cow milk from which most of the milk fat has been removed. It is used as a beverage and in cereals, batters, sauces, custards, breads, and other recipes where a fluid dairy ingredient is wanted without the richness of whole milk.
Its flavour is milky and lightly sweet, while its texture is thin and pourable. Removing most of the fat makes it feel less rich than whole milk, but the exact flavour and body can vary with processing and whether it is sold fresh, chilled, or otherwise treated.
Skim milk is usually sold as a refrigerated liquid in cartons, bottles, or similar containers. It can be used directly or heated, reduced, cultured, or incorporated into mixtures; these preparations change its thickness, aroma, and final texture.

Portions & preparation
Use fluid skim milk as sold, not reconstituted powder or a low-fat dairy drink with added ingredients. Serving context matters: plain milk differs from sweetened beverages, sauces, cereals, and coffee drinks, while heating generally should be recorded separately from added sugar or flavorings.
Compare the right form: Match fluid cow’s skim milk with fat removed, specifying pasteurized or otherwise processed form and excluding milk powder, flavored milk, cream, and mixed beverages.
Diet considerations
Skim milk is animal-derived cow’s milk. Compatibility changes with lactose-free processing, added sugar, cocoa, cereal ingredients, or use in cream sauces and baked goods. Plain servings contain naturally occurring milk carbohydrate, while sweetened drinks and milk-based desserts create a more carbohydrate-focused pattern and may include other animal or plant ingredients.
