Leverpostej

Arla’s leverpostej processes pork liver with milk, melted butter, wheat flour, onion, oregano and egg, bakes the mixture in five small forms and offers the pâtés warm or cold with suggested accompaniments.

About Leverpostej

Research draft based on the references below. These notes describe particular recipes and presentations; ingredient connections are still being reviewed.

Arla describes leverpostej with rye bread as a familiar Danish meal. Its selected homemade version processes pork liver with milk, melted butter, wheat flour, onion, oregano leaves and an egg.

The pork liver pieces are chopped in a food processor at its highest speed for about thirty seconds. The remaining listed ingredients are added in order and processed at the same speed for another thirty seconds.

The mixture is divided among five small ovenproof forms, each holding about two decilitres. They are placed in a cold oven before the temperature is set to 175°C.

The small leverpostejer bake in the middle of the conventional oven for about half an hour. Oregano, salt and freshly ground pepper season the liver mixture in this version.

The finished pâtés may be served warm or cold. Arla suggests coarse bread and a pickled accompaniment alongside, leaving the oregano-flavoured pork liver pâté at the centre of the serving.
