About Chimodho
Rumbie’s chimodho, also called mupotohayi, follows the Zimbabwean cornmeal bread she remembers from the 1980s and 1990s. Her oven version combines cornmeal and wheat flour with sour milk, egg, sugar and vegetable oil.
Cornmeal gives the loaf its grain character, while sugar provides sweetness and sour milk adds its dairy element. Butter is selected as an optional spread from the author’s serving suggestions.
