Haraimi

Also known as: حرايمي

Libyan cod in a spicy tomato sauce with garlic, cumin, caraway and an optional bread accompaniment.

About Haraimi

Haraimi is a Libyan fish stew with a deeply red, spicy tomato sauce. Fig & Olive Platter’s rendition features cod fillets, garlic, onion and a combination of cumin, caraway, paprika and chilli.

Tomato and lemon give the dish a bright, tangy character beneath the warmth of its spices. The fish provides tender flakes against the thicker sauce, while an optional potato adds a softer, substantial element.

The fish and sauce form a shared main dish. Bread is a suggested accompaniment, well suited to the rich tomato sauce and its sharp, aromatic seasoning.
