Fava Bean
A broad, starchy legume eaten fresh or dried and used in stews, purées, salads, and other savory dishes.

About Fava Bean
Fava bean is the edible seed of a broad-podded legume, also called broad bean. Fresh beans are enclosed in thick pods and may have a tender green seed coat when young; mature beans are larger and starchy, with a skin that is often removed after cooking or blanching.
They are used fresh, dried, or frozen in stews, soups, purées, salads, braises, and other savoury dishes. Young beans can remain firmer after brief cooking, while mature or dried beans become softer and more absorbent with longer cooking.
The beans may be sold in pods, shelled with their skins on, peeled, split, or dried. Podding, blanching, peeling, soaking, and boiling change their appearance and texture, so fresh kernels, peeled mature beans, and dried beans require different preparation and cooking times.

Portions & preparation
Establish which fruit is meant by the regional name jambu before selecting data, including species, ripeness, and edible portion. Match fresh fruit flesh with juice, preserve, dessert, or cooked forms separately, and account for discarded seeds, peel, added sugar, water, dairy, or other recipe ingredients.
Compare the right form: Confirm the species and match fresh edible flesh, juice, preserve, or dessert form; do not substitute another fruit called jambu.
Diet considerations
Jambu is plant-derived, but the regional name can identify different fruits, so species confirmation matters. Plain fresh fruit differs from juice, preserves, and desserts containing sugar, dairy, gelatin, or cereal ingredients. Processing and serving size can alter carbohydrate patterns and determine compatibility with a particular eating plan.
